The Old Royal George Inn has stood proudly in the heart of Morton-on-Swale for over 100 years. Our traditional English pub serves as a gathering place for travellers and locals alike. Our cosy restaurant offers classic pub meals with modern twists, using high-quality, fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers in the community.
Our pub is named after the HMS Royal George – a large British warship. It sank in 1782 in a catastrophic accident at Spithead with the loss of around 900 lives. The ship was a 100-gun, first-rate vessel, the largest in the world at its launch in 1756.
With a drink selection to suit all tastes, including 10 beers on draught, our pub, near the historic market town of Northallerton, celebrates its rich past with traditional decor and a warm, Yorkshire welcome.
Under new ownership, we’ve blended this tradition with modern hospitality, ensuring every guest enjoys the best of both worlds – an authentic pub atmosphere with a fresh, welcoming touch.
